The Work of Nature.......

Sometimes all things in nature are not pleasant. That's just the way it is. As I witnessed a bird of prey munching on one of my precious little birdies, I was both watching in awe and in sadness. Mr. BOP (bird of prey) has to eat, but......did it have to be at my restaurant for the little birds???!!!!! This is my first sighting of one of these predators this close to the house. I have seen them in the area, usually up in the tops of large trees. But this afternoon, here he was, right in my front yard tree, where lots of birds spend much of the day eating. I am not certain of his proper identification, but believe that he is perhaps a kestrel, a member of the family of falcons. Added note: (Hmmmmm........my daughter thinks Mr. BOP is eating a MOUSE!!)

eww!! LOL! I had a hawk come down in my front yard and get a squirrel while we were feeding them! I litteraly hit the floor I was so shocked! And then he flew off with my little squirrl into the horizon! It was aweful... scarred me for life! LOL! Gracie was about 3, and she said, "whooooaa... I wanna see that again," and I told her she probably never would. It was sooo wierd! But such is nature! You got some great pics!!

Oh I hope I don't ever see this happen. I have feeders everywhere and we have so many birds. YUCK CITY U.S.A.

yeah... this was probably as disturbing to you as last weekend for me. After much talk and murmurings about a little tv reality show called Meerkat Manor, I found it on the discovery channel as I was in the dungeon doing what I do down there. Talk about a rude awakening! All this time I thought it was going to be an awesome little show about cute furry creatures [[[ WRONG ]]]
In the one hour I watched, one of the dominant females has disappeared with 1/2 her pack, one of her babies was killed by a predator, another is starving to death, the leader of the opposing pack was in a fight with something, maybe a snake(??) and got stung with poison. After that, she dragged herself home only to be dethroned by her sister and their brother is off doing the deed with anything that walks by.
I think I'll stick to Holly, Bridget and Kindra over at the *other* Manor ;)

Agreed!!! No Meerkat Manor for me!!! And thank goodness...no more meals, other than bird seed meals, have been consumed for my eyes to see here in the front tree!!!
