AFTER THE STORM........

The storm came...the storm moved on...and now someone else is probably getting the effects!! Hopefully those are not harmful ones!! It is a beautiful day today, with lots of sun and glistening snow!! I LOVE it!! We took a long drive this morning, enjoying the beautiful weather. I love the smell of the air when there is fresh snow on the ground. The fields look like fun places to run and play, with their blankets of white. Our current temp is 65, and yes, snow is melting and making the rivers and creeks rise rapidly. Sharing just a few of the many pictures I took today!! Enjoy!!

STILL SNOWING....ALMOST NEED THE YARDSTICK!!!

Still snowing, still snowing......and before long, if this keeps up, I will need to switch to a yardstick to keep up with the depth of snow on our deck!! The birds have been out in full force...and I have been feeding them off the front porch, since I am not allowed to feed them with birdfeeders due to the HOA restrictions.....that's easier than wading through the snow to fill the feeder down in the backyard!! The robins are searching for their daily dose of raisins, and the squirrel is finding all the peanuts left for the crows!! These shots were taken at 12:30, and now...back to the first game of the NBA Playoffs!! Go Celtics!! Go Bulls!! May the best team win!! But ultimately......GO NUGGETS!!!! WAY TO GO NUGGETS!!! #2 IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE!!!! yes!!! YES!!! Y E S!!!!!!!

SNOW IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!!

Sharing some neighborhood shots of the snow on the trees as it looks this morning! It did not snow throughout the night, as predicted. However, it began to snow again around 7 a.m., and is expected to snow for several hours, at least. The news is saying another 4 - 8 inches for us here at 6,000 feet, and is also saying the official reports for our area is currently 11". My little plastic ruler is currently showing 10". Who knows!! It is soooo wet and heavy, it could be lots, lots more than that by now!! More pictures later on today!! Enjoy!! Yes, it is still snowing in mid-April here in the Rocky Mountain Front Range...and REALLLLY snowing on up above us here!! I70 is totally shut down from the Denver area all the way to Vail, with many folks stranded with no place to go. Not good!! Also there was a report of an avalanche on the way up to Winter Park, on Hwy 40, with two cars caught in the slide. Thankfully, no one was injured. Hope the rest of you are enjoying a bright, warm, sunny day!! I am loving the winter wonderland...but I know that many are not. When you have snow......make snowmen!!!

.....AND STILL MORE!!! NO SIGN OF LETTING UP SOON!!

My, my my!!! Snow, snow, and more and more and more snow!!! It is still coming down like crazy here.....and doesn't seem to be ready to stop anytime soon!! However, Sunday is forecast for the 50's, and by mid week the 70's....so this blanket of thick, heavy, wet stuff won't be hanging around too long. I figure with the compaction that is happening due to the heaviness of this big dump, we are well over 15" at this time...even though the ruler shows only 9". About to start getting dark, so might not be able to get any more pictures until tomorrow. Blessings to all, and especially to those of you getting dumped on like we are!!! ...AS THE SPRING SNOW CONTINUES!!!!

As the mix of rain, sleet, and snow continues...and the sidewalk is no longer anywhere to be seen in the blanket of white....here are the latest shots, taken at 4pm...as the storm continues to linger over us, and bring piles and piles of white, very wet, and very heavy snow. Many areas are without power up above us, and I hope we don't lose ours!! The cable has been out for a bit, but has returned. The conveniences that we take for granted.....As I stuck the ruler into the snowpack on the back deck...it was actually difficult to push it down through the snow....so you can imagine how compacted it is. Although it shows about 7", there has been much, much more than 7" that has fallen today.....and is still coming down hard and strong!! Enjoy the shots!!

....AND IT IS STILLLLL SNOWING!!!!!

Well, here we are at 3 in the afternoon, and the winter wonderland is continuing here at 6,000 feet!! We've had continuous snow, sleet, rain, pellets of hard stuff, etc....all day long!! And lots of thunder, which has now brought a HUGE downfall!! Very little visibility, but really pretty out there. I have shoveled the walkway a few times...but now it's not even a tiny bit cleared!! SPRING...NOT SPRING.....SPRING.....

Yes, that is the typical pattern here in the Front Range area.....where one day it is Spring weather, with everything in bloom, and the grass getting green....and then WHAM!! We get hit with one of these wonderful Spring Storms...so common here in Colorado. This morning here at 6,000 feet the snow has begun to accumulate, and the morning forecast was that the slow moving storm would bring us a BIG BUNCH of the wet and heavy stuff throughout the next 24-36 hours. I am delighted with this, since we have had very little snow this season, and I do love the snow!! I have shoveled twice already today, and it is only 10 a.m.!! Right now the problem is not the amount of snow....it's the slipping and sliding for travel and walking caused by the nice layer of ice under the snow...thanks to the steady rain we had all day yesterday and all night long. OUCH!! Enjoy the snow pics...and sorry there are no bird pictures. The neighborhood association made me take down my front tree bird feeders.....yes....true. I am only allowed feeders, a total of TWO, in my back yard....hmmm......guess we shan't eat in the front yards here......

200TH POST!!! GET READY FOR SUMMER GIVE-AWAY!!!!!!

Goooodness!! Where does the time go???!!! Much has happened since I last posted....and now this is the 200th post!!! YEA!!!! It is the time of year here in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains where we are constantly vacillating between Spring and Winter.....and today is no exception!! The temp is in the upper 60's, and it's a beautiful day! However, another storm is moving in, with 5-12" of snow predicted for our area, with a high temp tomorrow around 30 degrees! A week ago Thursday was the grand Spring Blizzard, where snow flew creating zero visibility, and flights out of Denver International Airport were canceled. Yes, I thought I was going to Austin that day....but nope!! Got out on Friday, though!! Prior to the blizzard, we have seen many bulbs blooming, perennials waking up, trees budding out and flowering, etc. Then snow!! But....as they say....this is Colorado!! No surprise!! Actually, the records show that March is generally the big snow month, followed by both November and April. So we shall see what happens from now until May 1st!! I'm not complaining. I love the snow....and we need the moisture. As with many parts of the country, we are in a drought situation, and must be happy about the precipitation we receive.

FAVORITE FRIENDS ON A SUNNY DAY!!!

Although we should be having our fair share of snow and not such warm temperatures.....we are experiencing these lovely spring-like temps and great, warm, sunny days!! I had "cabin fever" today, when I should have been busy getting my new listings posted on Lemon Poppy Seeds and Country Fried Primitives...and went for a drive to visit some nearby animal friends instead!! These sheep, llamas and alpacas are at a ranch nearby, and are always right by the dirt road wanting to say hello. The one alpaca is almost like my best friend, since he comes running when he sees me stop, and seems anxious to say hello!! He quickly runs to the fence, and as I approach the gate area, he pops his head over and gives me a friendly nudge!! I would love to own a few of these grand animals someday!!

THE NEWEST ANGEL AT 6 WEEKS!!!!!

And such a sweet little angel he is.......and growing and changing soooo quickly!! Even though this little one lives close enough that we see him about once a week, it still is amazing how much change has taken place since the last visit!!

#1 GRANDSON IS ALREADY 3 WEEKS OLD!!!!

As we all know, time flies!! Especially when little ones are growing and changing!! Little Dimitri, who weighed in as a big boy to start, weighed 9 pounds at a week old! Who knows what he weighs now at 3 weeks!! He is just as precious as can be, and so far is being a good little baby! Here are the latest pictures, taken yesterday on Valentine's Day! Enjoy!!

The Darling Granddaughters #2 and #3!!

First....my apologies for being such a slacker with my blog! Time just flies by, and days and weeks escape me!! Too much to do...too little time!! Right? After spending a couple weeks in Austin at the absolute worst time for cedar allergy infestation, I returned home, recovered from the allergy attack, and became immersed in all the things I am behind on and also getting acquainted with the FIRST GRANDSON!!! And there is also the #1 granddaughter that lives in our area, and will be spending time this weekend with us so her parents can enjoy Valentine's Day!! Here are some of the pictures that I took of Madison and Mackenzie on my last trip! Mackenzie is already three months old, and growing rapidly!! Madison has settled into being the big sis, and is such a ham! She has a delightful personality, which often gives her mother fits!! I just snicker...so reminiscent of 26 or so years ago when her mother was that age!!! HA!! Precious Princess Maddie will be turning three tomorrow on Valentine's Day, and a big party is planned, of course!! Enjoy the pictures!!

THE FIRST GRANDSON!!!

Well, well, well!! The three granddaughters have now been joined by the FIRST grandson!! Little....well not so little Dimitri joined our wonderful world on Wednesday afternoon, after a long wait!! Mommy's due date had been on Friday, and she had been ready for at least the last month!! HA!! But, stubborn just like his daddy, this little guy took his time!! All is well with everyone, and Mike (Griz) was there for the event. I am not even at home, but am instead down in Austin with the newest granddaughter....being the gram while her mommy returned to work. Goodness! The job of grandparent becomes very demanding at times!! (We should get these children to plan better, huh??!!!!)
